Ice Cream Cone 'cupcakes' Has Anyone Tried To Fill Them?

I'm a newbie when it comes to these ice cream cone cuppies and am in need of some guidance. I've been asked to make some for a party and the bday girl wants them filled. I know regular cupcakes can be filled, I've done boston cream pie cupcakes before but filling them w/a fruit filling... that, I've not done before.

So, can someone walk me through this process? Can I fill prior to baking, in the ice cream cone? Is it better to fill after baked?

Also, I see the 1M tip being used to swirl icing on top. I've got a 2D... this one will work too, right? Is it better to get the 1M?
