I emailed a photo of the red bandana bird to the craft magazine that gave me my inspiration for the cookie, as the author of the article requested people do so. (Though I'm guessing they didn't think they'd be getting cookie photos when the article was about hand-made cards and stamping techniques!) Imagine my surprise when I got a response to my email, saying she really liked what I had done, and that the photo would be published in an upcoming issue of their magazine. I even get a free copy when it does! Woo hoo! Had to share...
Wow, that is just way too cool, I saw those cookies, they were really neat. Way to go ![]()
Wow, Gemini. I just took a few minutes to look through your gallery - you do impressive work!
WOW! Congratulations! What magazine will it be in? And do you know which issue?
That's fabulous news! Congratulations!!!! I cannot wait to see it in the magazine!

It's called "Crafts 'N Things", and I have no idea what issue the cookie will be in. I discovered the magazine at the library, and found it to be very interesting. It gave me a number of cookie ideas, as well as some cookie bouquet container options. I was impressed by the shear number of projects each issue had. (The bandana idea came from the December issue.)
I own a catering company on 121st and Center. I really don't do cakes or decorated cookies. I just admire you bakers from afar. I cater breakfast lunch dinner, weddings etc.. Always looking for someone to send my customers to for cakes and very pretty items such as you do. I'm a pretty good cook but not a decorator. We should get together.

Alas, I am not licensed. Though to be honest, I've been giving it some thought lately. The engineering company I work for is struggling, and I may find myself unemployed. There isn't much out there for jobs in my field, so it would be a good time to seriously consider getting into decorating. It's a bit scary, though! I would be interested in seeing what you do.
Hey Gemini,
Love your work. I pm'd you so check it out
Kelly
Gemini,
So anyway, I can't find my pm message I sent you, but it went something like this; I'm not the food police and I think we could help each others business, lets get together and by the way did you go to school in Omaha. I went to Benson class of 1977

I've sent you a PM, so we'll see if it goes thru. Sometimes they stay in the out-box for quite a while before being sent. I have no clue why that is!
The birds are great! Thanks for the template and all! What is the difference between a #1 and Aa #1s tip?
Not much! At least to the naked eye I couldn't see the difference. But when piping, there was just a teeny bit finer line with the #1s.

Kelly, you must be cakesbyjam's sister. We're good friends and she talks about her sister being a caterer.
Congratulations, Gemini! Your work deserves to be in a magazine
I knew I liked you for more than just your avatar! Thanks for the compliment, and thanks to everyone who posted compliments of their own. Much appreciated!

I'd love to see the magazine when it comes out. It sure is awesome to have such a "Celebrity" here on Cake Central
Your work is top-notch, and if anyone hasn't seen your gallery, they are really missing out on some awesome work. I especially love the Easter eggs you posted: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1331318 Unvelievable ![]()
The cookies look so beautiful! That is wonderful...congratulations!
I got an email from the author of the magazine article that showed the bandana stamping technique. Her editor had sent the photo of my bird cookies to her, and she wanted to include them in her blog. She emailed me today with the link...woo hoo! I was even able to plug CC! This probably won't work, because I'm a computer idiot, but here's the link: http://www.fiskateers.com/blog/2009/04/22/cookies-cards-they-really-do-go-together/
First off congratulations!
Second, you are not a computer idiot! The link works just fine! What a nice write up!
