How Do I Use Kitchen Aide Pasta Roller For Mmf?

For my birthday recently my DH gave me a Kitchen Aide Pasta Roller attachment for my mixer. Now I'm finally ready to use it, but I don't know how. Do I knead the mmf with some shortening before I feed it in or should I use cornstarch instead? I'm assuming one or the other is needed so it doesn't stick. Help please!
