Hi,
My sister asked me to make some glutton-free cupcakes for her in-laws, and I have found a cake mix I can use but I was wondering about frosting...is there such a thing as glutton free frosting? If anyone can suggest something, I'd be truely greatful!!!

gluten is mainly found in wheat (or barley or rye)...so unless you are using any of these flours in your frosting...i would think you'd be okay.

use a veg shortening b.c.. it's naturally GF

From what I've read on it, all frosting is gluten-free. Although some powdered sugars may contain some (fillers) so you will need to watch that. Also extracts contain gluten except for McCormick's. I'm not sure about the others. SMBC/IMBC are also gluten-free.

Any Dream Whip frostings or frostings that call for flour (I have a few) are not safe.

Does fondant contain any Gluten? I have a simular request but need to use fondant on my cake. I spcificly use FondX and Satin Ice.

Hi - Thanks for the info everyone! I ended making the chocolate buttercream frosting recipe I found in a Wilton book...very yummy!!

Satin Ice is GF... I've called them to ask. thumbs_up.gif

Cherrybrook Farms (I think that's what it's called) sells gluten-free icing mixes. I've never tried them, but I've seen chocolate and vanilla flavors.
