Does anyone have any no-fail recipes for cakes that need to be carved?
Is WASC a good one to use?
I just came looking for the same thing! I am doing a small purse and thought of using a butter pound cake. Thought I would check around the forum to see if something else was used as a standard cake for sculpting.

Just look up "durable" in the recipe section and you will get a white or yellow, and chocolate recipes show up...
