Hi,

I have been asked to make a dense chocolate cake and the birthday boy's favourite was a chocolate cake that had cherry pie filling mixed in the actual cake. Anyone ever tried this or have a great recipe for this? TIA.

there is a dark chocolate cherry ripe cake recipe if you want it..

Cherry ripe is a chocolate bar with a cherry/coconut centre and dark choc coating. Very nice

there's a recipe for this on the back of the choc cake mix, not sure which brand. or you can use marachino cherries chopped up and some of the liquid in place of the liquid in the recipe and that is good too.

In the Cake Doctor cookbook there is a recipe for chocolate cherry cake. I have never made it but I was looking at the recipe last week I don't have the book ( just looking through it at work) so I can't look it up for you.

The recipe in the Cake Doctor is fantastic . . . and a favorite at our house. It's very moist. I make it in a bundt pan and spoon some of the cherry pie filling over the top. No need to frost.
