So, I've been doing the standard round and square cakes for quite a few years, and I think I'm finally ready to take on the challenge of a 3-D cake. I'm hosting a western themed party in a bit and I would like to do the boot cake shown here,

I've learned about how to make it, except, how do you cut it? Do you have to flop it over on the side to cut it and serve it? I've also seen 3-D elmo and curious george cakes, and I was puzzled as to how to serve that. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I have a motto when it comes to serving 3D cakes..."Not my problem." icon_lol.gif

Seriously, though, those boots are most likely doweled several times, so they're technically a tiered cake. (I didn't read the description). You could just cut right from the top to the first board, just like you were cutting a tiered cake.

But really... that is my motto. icon_evil.gif
