AHa ha ha, not nice in this heat Maisie!

Thanks Jean, gum paste John made the flights out of paper, I painted the cocktail sticks silver and moulded some red fondant on the middle.

AYeah just a bit Jean! My granddad's getting old and ill now, he's off his food and my great aunt (who's 87 herself) who lives with him is getting into a bit of a state cos she doesn't know what to give him. I take stuff up when I can, if we have cooked dinner I put one up for them etc and I make fruitcake and tapioca pudding for them regularly. I thought I'd have one day in the kitchen, fill their freezer and not have to worry for a week or two. It is ridiculously hot in my whole house now but I hope it'll be worth it when I see him tucking in!

AThanks Kuuushi and Jean.

Jean, I didn't colour it. I used M & B sugar paste. They have some gorgeous colours.

Kuuushi, are you the one who asked about baby booties? I used Deborah Hwang's template to make the converses I did last month for a baby shower. I also have made booties, using Jem cutters. But the converses are much nicer than them. :-)

AOooh I loved the baby converse! And I really liked Nanny's old fashioned bootees too.

I just put my daughter to bed, collapsed on the settee and put the telly on in the vain hope there was something other than football on. My good cooking deed has been repaid already cos there's a documentary about abba on! :-D So I'm off now, G'nite everyone.

AWhat a busy day. Been checking in when I can though, so up to date for once. Lovely cakes all.

I've been mad at work this evening baking six chocolate cakes, which will be stacked to make three large ones. Hope I'm not destined to only make chocolate cakes forever now. It is tasty though...! One is for the MiL so I might get to have a smidgen of that one myself for once...

Also playing around with flowers again to decorate them all differently. My drying box is looking pretty full.

Also had a bash at a gumpaste/modelling chocolate-blend stargazer, but it's not great... Was a nightmare to make too.

Now have to face an evening trying to keep the hubby away from the veritable BUCKET of ganache I've made ready for tomorrow...! ;)

AAw Jo she looks good, love her hair too.

Jean, the letters are the funky range cutters, and the numbers are the Ffm from Amazon.

Well, I didnt know you lived in Wales kuuushi?

Haha I think it's safe to say that if you don't know where someone lives on here then just assume it's Wales!

Jo your Elsa is lovely you've done a fantastic job. And bashini your cake is great too. I tried to make giant stand up letters like that on a cake once but they were a complete flop - literally!

AThanks Jo and Sugarluva. :-)

Jo, Elsa is beautiful. Well done and I cannot see anything wrong with the eyes!

Sugarluva, if you want to make stand up numbers, you have to roll the paste quite thick and once you cut them out, insert a bbq skewer and let it set. Or maybe a thick wire would do the trick. :-)

ABrilliant dart board nanny, expected nothing less :-)

The else figure is really cool, I particularly like her hair, it's spot on!

Little tip for standy-uppy (yes it's a word. Now... :-) ) bits; pastillage. It dries rock solid, is easy peasy to make and can be rolled really thin. It dries to a porcelain like finish. The figures on this were made using it, although you can't see the finish they had due to the black paint and glitter!.

Am I the only one who's really not keen on chocolate cake? I mean, cake isn't my thing really anyway (unless it's a cra**y Tesco vanilla one, to my eternal shame), but I'm just sick to death of chocolate. It's what I have requested more than anything, and because of that I literally can't remember the last time I even picked at off cuts!

AMorning all. :-)

Jo, Elsa's lovely! Her hair is fab, her hands are really good and there's nothing wrong with her eyes. I knew you'd do it, you must be chuffed.

Fab 70's cake Lizzy, your standy-uppy's are groovy baby! And no you're not the only one who doesn't like chocolate cake. I don't like it either, I love chocolate (as long as it's not cheap chocolate) but don't like chocolate flavoured stuff. Chocolate cake just tastes like cocoa powder to me. Until I discovered mud cake. Have you ever tried it Lizzy? It's delicious, really chocolatey, because it's made with real chocolate.

Lovely flowers m4rvel. I can't make flowers. :-(

Mine is a mud cake... ;)

And thank you. Lot of patience, experimentation and failures along the way lol... Still haven't mastered a good large rose that I'm happy with. One day!!!!

AHaha nanny no I'm not from Wales... Please don't kick me off here! :D

I will have to give standy uppy numbers a go again, I did let them dry but didn't insert wires or skewers as I hoped they would be strong enough so I'll try again sometime. I keep hearing about pastillage but haven't tried it before so that might be on my list to try sometime soon too - ya know, when I have a spare 5 minutes!
