I struck up a conversation with a lady in the Michael's cake aisle that was looking confused. She asked me some questions and as we were chatting I found out she was local competition! It was funny, and nice to put a face to a cupcake! icon_smile.gif

I pass CC on every chance I get......but people are funny about "online sites" "chat sites"....etc..... but I do my best to assure them that this site is totally safe, full of information and ideas.

we need to have some shirts and aprons that say "Hi! I'm (insert name or name of business) and I'm a Cake addict" with the Cake central name below or in big bold letters on the back (of the Tshirt)

or we can change that to "HI! I'm (name) and i'm a Cake central addict!

can even work for hats!

Haha you're a "celebrity" on CC too. A few weeks ago you posted an answer on my very first forum post regarding tools of the trade & I about DIED! All I could think was OMG, I've seen her on YouTube & she's answering MY question! I didn't say anything b/c I thought it might embarrass you & make me look like (as miss_sweetstory would say) a cake stalker icon_cool.gif !! Now that I've got a few (very few) more forum posts & feel more comfortable I thought I'd let you know!! icon_biggrin.gif

lol..I dont bite!!!...Plus Im just another lady here in CC..I love to meet people.. Last year in Tulsa there was a lady with her husband right in front on me and she was pointing at me, and her husband look.. I had to smile..It was so sweet...

Hey, if CC were to ever create and sell the CC apron/oven mitt combo, ya'll know I'd order 3! lol

Maybe be should have nametags. At the AZ Cake and Sugar Art show, I met 2 CC members, but there were a few there that I didn't have the kahonas to introduce myself to icon_sad.gif

speaking of "cake clothes" you have got to check out Johnny Cupcakes site:
http://www.johnnycupcakes.com/browse/all
my all time fave is the cupcake cross bones t-shirts. That might look familiar Jorg was wearing it in one of the latest FN Cake Challenges.

if you have time check out Johnnycupcakes' blog - I love it. My favorite is on the first page (copy of a youtube video) where the lady is trying to keep the dog from eating the cupcakes:
http://www.johnnycupcakes.com/blog/

his story is awesome too

Here's my card and on my website you'll find lots of helpful hints to save you money on my FAQ page." So I'm not "soliciting" their business ... I'm just sharing a great website where they can find ideas on how to save money on a wedding.

Course if they decide on their own to give me a call .... icon_rolleyes.gif !

The first time I was buying fondant at Michaels a woman in the aisle was also looking at the different colored fondants and asked her what she thought about it.................to make a long story short she actually told me the best way to make marshmallow fondant and color it. She was very helpful and sweet. She was making a Ghandhi cake for her sister.

I love everybody doing this. I thought I was the only one that thought about talking to people in the cake aisles & seeing if they're CC'rs. I'm glad to hear I'm not nuts by myself (my husband thinks I am & but he also thinks it's kinda cool when someone strikes up a conversation. I had a lady in wallyworld take out a brag book like people have for pictures of their kids & it was full of cake pictures, so funny.

HEHEHE!! I do that all the time!!!

I'm even bad enough that when I see someone in the cake isle looking SO confused, I ask them if they need help with something...LOL...sometimes people look at me like "Yeah right, this young girl thinks she knows what she's talking about" LOL... but oh well!! I try! hahahaa...I try to hold myself back though, its just that I love talking about cakes too much!! hehehe!!

Yes, I do this too. Except I would be SO afraid to reveal my CC name. I'm afraid it might be someone whose photo I deleted at one time or another and they will punch me in the nose!!!! icon_lol.gif

Dont ever feel bad for what you are supposed to do!...I appreciate the fact that someone is actually doing this. It was really annoying to see so many photos of the same cake. Now things run so much better! thumbs_up.gif

Yep, it's actually a group (not a "fan of" that you can join), called "Cake Central Addicts" Here's a thread about it icon_smile.gif http://www.cakecentral.com/cake-decorating-ftopict-611189-.html

Back to the topic, yep, color me guilty as charged too. I am a major eavesdropper and spy when I am in the cake aisle, whether at Michaels or at a proper cake supply store. It takes every ounce of willpower to not butt in and ask nosy questions or offer unsolicited advice (uh, yeah, as if *I* have all the answers anyway). Especially if they are buying Wilton fondant! LOL wouldn't I be embarrassed if it was an experienced decorator who only uses Wilton for modeling. icon_redface.gif I'd be like, "Oh, hi! Well, are you on CC?? Because I am! My screen name is...tonedna!" Baahahahaaaaa.

Chin up Kathy, people always want to "shoot the messenger" Image

yes I too am a cake aisle lurker.....I've yet to find a fellow CC'er, but then again maybe I'm the only one in Montana to find this site! A little evil part of me wants to keep Cake Central my own little secret from my cake friends so I'll get all the cool information icon_evil.gificon_lol.gif Then the good part always says 'Hey I know this awesome website......' icon_smile.gif

I too love to meet people in the cake isle. Haven't shared cc site yet, but I've shared a coupon or two at michaels. I always have the receipts with the coupons on them, or I print up extras. I plan to go to cake camp in Vegas this year so maybe I should make me one of those signs like Indydebi icon_smile.gif
