I am making a cake with a Giraffes head coming out of the top and I need to know how to attach it? Do I use a dowel??

Is is a very big Giraffes head? If so I would suggest a dowel to hold it firm, with some icing to 'glue' it also.

I did a small giraffe (see my photos) and i used small dowels to hold that in place.
