Oh please, $80 too much in this economy? Im an ICU nurse, nurses make a decent salary, managers considerably more. Your staffing a department to cover 2 shifts 24/7. I dont think asking for 5 bucks donation from each staff member towards a unit party cake is going to break anybody. Keep donating, it was a very generous thing to do, and if anyone knows medical staff, we love to eat!

I am with Julz- our unit would never pay for a nice cake like that since it will just get literally destroyed in a short order, but there are many that I work with that would order such a cake for their own personal parties. Don't get discouraged, your work is awesome and donating from the heart with the right motive is the most important. It will always make you the victor in the end.
