I've taken classes, read books, watched videos online, and read online articles to help me advance my techniques. The number one thing is to practice!

i think you want a bit of every method available! i like going to classes. videos (youtube) are good for being able to see the process. i love looking at books though (i like alan dunn fo gumpaste flowers), i like the pictures!
of course the best place to learn is on here - someone can always point you in the right direction if the answer isnt on here! (and metalic colours- best done with lustre dust - paintbrush, airbrush, vodka - the technique depends on what you are actually doing)
