Decorating By mamafrogcakes Updated 21 Aug 2005 , 8:20pm by MissBaritone
I keep seeing these beautiful cakes with the imprinted diamond pattern on fondant, BC etc. What tool do you use for this?? Is there a press or roller??
Thanks!!!
I found one at my local retailer this past weekend - and I can't WAIT to use it! ![]()
Here are instructions for doing it without the mat if you want to give it a try.

Mjones - Where do you live? I'm in Houston, Texas.
Mjones, oh no - I can't help you too much since you're in New York. There is a wonderful supplier here in Houston called Make a Cake. We look forward to going there once a month or so to get the supplies that we need - it's on the other side of the city so I can't just drive over any time I need one little thing and we get our "everyday" supplies from Michael's or Hobby Lobby - but it's sure worth the wait to get the "special" things we need! I have seen the mats on other supply websites too - I think they are well worth the investment!
Hi Traci! It's so funny, because I was going to order mine from Earlene's website, but when we were at Make a Cake they actually had the one I wanted! And I don't remember seeing the mats there before, so I was pretty excited about coming across it at the store! ![]()
By the way, have you tried the German Chocolate icing they have there? It is WONDERFUL - it tastes like CANDY! They were giving out samples when we were there a few months ago, and I wanted to buy a little container of it this time to try on a cake, but they only had it in HUGE containers - like 5 or 10 gallons or something crazy like that! Anyway, next time you're there, ask for a taste - you'll see what I mean! ![]()

Over here we use patchwork cutters. They're wonderful for embossing, as well as the diamond pattern theres one for quilting, brickwork, basket weave ect. Ebay usually has quite a few cutters for sale or failing that http://newlook.design-a-cake.co.uk/
this is a cake decorating shop near me but they are quite willing to ship outside the UK. You can contact them through the website for details of shipping ect.
