Rose Levy Berenbaum's The Cake Bible is essential, IMHO.

Oh, and http:///www.epicurious.com is a wonderful site for recipes, not just cake ones, either! DH and I are both foodies and we get lots of recipes and inspiration from there!

Love this book! Don't use all my recipes out of there, but it is one of my best resources!
