I have a picture of a turtle cake that I'd like to try. I'm not quite sure how they got the shape of the shell. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking, maybe a couple of sheet cakes stacked and then carved. But I think I might waste a lot of cake if I do it that way. Ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance!
Kim
You can choose:
Your idea - sheet cake. I would make paper templates, try to get them on the pan and try not to waste any cake.
Or - Bake in 1/2 ball pan or pyrex bowl and carve the sides
Or - combine both
You can use the "wasted" cake - start making cake balls, but use this "material" to give your cake a better form or give a base to the legs. It all depends of the size you want.
