Tripletmom helped me with my guitar cake (see my pix) and here's what she said about how she got a template (I followed her instructions and made my own too).
To get the guitar right I went to the Fender website to find the guitars in questions and downloaded the pics then printed them to the size I wanted. This worked well for the details and such. Other than that it was constantly looking at the pics tomake sure I had the details just right.
