My buttercream frosting looks like it is separating. This has never happened to me before. You can see the color separating. What happened?
separating in the bowl? in the decorating bag? on the cake? can you post a pic?
it's separating in the bag and when put on the cake the color is not an even color, you can see white in it. I mixed my color in well.
This happens to me when the icing gets too warm. I have hot hands, so I can't hold it too long or it will get white areas. Kind of looks like marbeling.
probably not what you want to hear but i wonder if it was indeed mixed in enough. i have mixed icing really well only to discover a blop or a line that hid and later it showed up as a streak. Just my 2 cents, deposit or leave in the change tray at will.
