I've been looking around here and can't seem to find any good filling ideas for a strawberry. Anything beside the generic cream cheese or strawberry filling??

what about cheesecake filling?? Its my most popular for strawberry cake!

MacsMom listed her gourmet cake flavors in another thread and these were her strawberry options:

Strawberry Banana ~ Alternating layers of strawberry and banana cakes filled with banana and strawberry cheesecakes.

Strawberry Fields ~ Moist strawberry cake filled with strawberry cheesecake & strawberry puree.

Strawberry Lemonade ~ Strawberry & lemon cakes swirled together and filled with strawberry cheesecake & lemon curd.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberry ~ Layers of strawberry and chocolate cakes with a fudge filling.

They all sound good!

Lemon curd with fresh strawberrys ...Love it!

I like using a strawberry pie filling and using milk instead of water when I cook it so it's creamier, but I have always used it in a chocolate cake.

What about a simple sweetened whipped cream with fresh strawberries?

I would say the chocolate mousse in strawberry cake would be awesome. Expecially if you did a layer of sliced strawberries too.

White chocolate mousse by itself or add some strawberry flavoring or puree in it.

DELICIOUS!!! Thanks for all of the great ideas- never thought about lemon curd! I used the chocolate mousse idea- delicious!! Will try the others in the future- i really love strawberry cake (although any chocolate is my absolute fav!!!).
