I have my second class for Course 3 on Tuesday, we're doing the present cake. My instructor told us we needed to cut a cake board to the same size as the cake, then we need another bigger board to put that on. She said we needed some rug stuff? I guess so the board doesn't slide? What is the rug stuff? Where do you get it?

I think she means the slip mat! You can find it in the aisle by the shelf liners in walmart! I just picked up soem today for my cake in the car, so it doesn't slide all over the place.

OK, I don't know if I follow your questions... but what I get is that you need a piece of non-slip material, like the one used to cover cabinets?? It looks like a waffle rubbery cloth... I get mine from the dollar store, I use it to transport cakes so they don't slide and I also used for the present cake you are talking about! They sell it in rolls or like placemats. HTH!!

You can get the non-slip stuff from Walmart or any hardware store..maybe even home depot.
It is meant for shelf liners ..it is textured and is usually cream or I have seen it in blue too..comes on a roll (not expensive either)..fabulous for keeping cakes from slipping.

I took a larger cake board as well as the one that "just fit" but I didn't end up using that..I just used a spatula under the exact sized cake board to lift it up so I was able to put my hands under to lift it..then I just put it on a cake plate when I wanted to serve it..others put a bit of that non-slip mat under the cake sized board and then put that whole thing on a larger cake board for serving..(hope that makes sense)

The package cake is fun..I am sure you will love it!
