Hi! I am going to try my first purse cake. The tutorial was very helpful. I feel brave enough to give it a go!

I have a question about support. Does it need a board in the middle of the cake after the first two layers? Or are just the dowels sufficient. I am using a pretty dense cake.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Hi, and welcome!

I have a tutorial for a diaper bag cake on my website that shows the internal supports: http://www.cakedalaska.com/Caked_Alaska/Welcoming_William.html

Rule of thumb is, there should be internal supports every four or five inches of height.

HTH,
Deanna
