I am going to begin practicing more with cake dummies and I was wondering, do you have to cover them with anything before decorating them?? I once read that you should cover them in contact paper before icing and decorations. I understand that it would assist in clean-up but it seems like it would not be as smooth to cover?? Help?!? ![]()
Yes contact paper is used on dummy cakes. For the fact that from experience the buttercream icing when rubbing it off seems to get into the pores of the dummy cake. Also you could use your cake pans upside down. That is what I did for this practice cake.
The silver ribbon was wrapped around the dummy cakes and the cake were my pans turned upside down and iced.
