I have seen a few cakes on CC that are iced in butter cream and there is a large dress maker type bow attached to the top edge of the cake. Any idea how that's done? I just did one and the bow keeps falling off. I figured there must be a trick to it. Can any one tell me?

I have a ton of bows and buttercream!! I am not sure what you mean but I just use a dab of RI if it is on a side. If is is in front I can use just a bit of water. Sometimes I use buttercream to get them to stay.
I construct the bows usually right on the cake so they usually dry right where they need to be.
Hope that helps a little.
