How Long Will Mmf Keep????

My daughter will be 3 at the end of March and I am due with baby number 3 two days before her birthday.

She wants a Nemo cake.

How long in advance could I make the characters out of mmf?

Any other tips or advice? I will either be hugely pregnant or have a newborn in the house.

MMF keeps for a long long time. Especially if they are figures that are not going to be eaten. You want to make them in advance so that they have plenty of time to dry (mmf takes a while). Just be warned that reds and blacks tend to fade. (pinks as well) so keep them in covered containers away from light and sun.

THanks! I think I will make them at the start of march and keep them in a container until the cake is ready.

I am also debating if I should bake the cake ahead of time too.

MMF lasts - probably forever - stored in the freezer! Generously coat it with Crisco, wrap with several layers of platic wrap, and Ziploc for good measure.

Figurines last indefintely. Store them in a cardboard box - not an airtight container.

Once I have the figurines made, should I keep them at room temp?
