Do you put icing on your butter pound cakes? If so what do you recommend? I have never made a pound cake but found a recipe on here I am dying to try. It uses a 10 inch tube pan but it does not say if it should be frosted.

I have never used an icing on pound cake. Only an occasional dusting of powdered sugar or a glaze for the lemon one I make. I wonder if you could make a glaze with a little bit of melted butter and powdered sugar. Sounds yummy to me!

ok, trying again... my 1st one deleted.

i had this same issue about a month ago, customer's husband wanted a glaze, I had never done this to my poundcakes... so I came up with this..

powedered sugar, milk, and you choice of flavoring.. you want it to be thin enough to pour but thick enough to adhere... it will dry crusty.... I also poked holes in my cake to let the glaze run into the cake...

needless to say, my efforts worked and my customer raved icon_smile.gif

good luck

I always frost my pound cakes that are cooked in a 10 inch tube pan. I use a buttercream icing and it works well everytime.

I was wondering if you frost the middle too.

Yeah, I usually put a little bit down in the middle.
