I have a (really stupid) question regarding the petal shapes when making roses. The cutters have a rounded end and a pointy end. I understand the idea of thinning the edges and how to put the petals on, but which end should be up - the pointed end or the round end? The pictures in the instructions look as if the rounded ends were the top edges, but diagrams to cut the petals have the pointy part up... icon_confused.gif Why this has confused me, I have no idea.. icon_redface.gif

Don't worry - an easy mistake and when I first starting doing Roses I was also not sure.
the Rounded end is the top of the petal, the pointy bit will be underneath and hidden by the caylyx when you do it.

Soon as you put them on it will look right!

cheers

I believe it is the pointy end down!! Not stupid at all... it can be tricky (I knew a person that used the pointy end up and liked it that way - at my gumpaste class). HTH.

OMG Jan, you are in Bath, England... my fav city in the whole world!!

Yes, the rounded part is up. I think it's confusing because on some rose varieties, the petals curl back, forming a point on top.

Hi Jan, YES, I was there about 18 months ago and I want to go back sooo bad, we could only stay for 3 days!! Beautiful city, so much to see, do, eat! Too much history and culture! We took a couple tours, I went to the Abbey, the Roman Bath, St. Michael's Place, Saw Close, Queen Square, George St., can't remember all the other names, will bring out the photo albums!!! I wish I was there and stay for good! icon_biggrin.gifthumbs_up.gif
