I found a web site cakesbyrobert.com and his birthday cakes are decorated with only piping gel. I emailed to ask. I want to do a Dora cake next weekend and was wondering if anyone had tried this type of decorating, using only gel. I did some searching and the only thing I found was a suggestion to outline in b/c to hold the gel in place.
Thanks for your help
Stacy

I've only ever used this technique when doing water, but from the looks of his website, it looks as if he outlines in BC and then fills in his outline with colored piping gel...
I'm not a big fan of the taste of piping gel, myself, it's just kinda sticky and sweet... but his cakes look really great. I like the lion one.
Let us know how it works out!
