Help!!! I have run out of meringue powder and am in the middle of ice storm and really dont want to leave my house. I need a good crusting buttercream icing that i can mix with the icing i have already made. It needs to be done by 5 today! I know nothing like waiting til last minute! Thanks for any help!!! Lori

Crusting is the result of the fat/sugar ratio. I've never used meringue powder in my icing in my life. Never knew what it was or what it was for until I found CC. More sugar .... more crusting. More fat .... less crusting. (easy to remember .... the more "grease" in the icing, the more likely it is to "slide" down the cake instead of crusting up and staying put! )
