You just wonder who and how they get their judges. I don't think they have a clue as to how much time and talent is put into these projects. They have probably never set foot in a kitchen let alone bake anything.........I know, the're those customers who want a 2 tiered cake, 4 dozen cupcakes or cookies now and at a Wal-mart price!
Malakin your house is beautiful, I want to move in!
They screwed up - no question about that.
I'm a Certified Kansas City BBQ Judge and I can promise you there are NO politics involved in judging KCBS sanctioned events, but doesn't help anyone in cake compettion, sorry. I was just trying to make the point that not all judging is political.
You're absolutely right, I did get a ribbon, of which they thumb-tacked to my house! AWWWW! My art has been defaced! LOL. I quickly removed it and tacked it to my living room wall as a joke. That really sucks that you did not get your house back, let alone no recognition of a 'job well done'! Your house is awesome and definitely deserves it! I gave my house to my son's favorite teacher from a few years back.
Your house is gorgeous and deserves a blue ribbon! ![]()
I'd definitely write ask about what happened.
I also have a contest story, although indirectly. My boys entered a cake in the Father-Son Boy scout bake off. They got 2nd overall. But first place went to a cake that in color and shape resembled - pardon my vivid description -a turd pile. Later found out it was supposed to be a snake. My boys did a 2-tiered cake with 3D trees, waterfalls, fondant animals and people. Sigh! ![]()
Believe me I struggled so hard to teach my boys how to be gracious that day. ![]()
