Where To Find Unique Sprinkles/jimmies
Decorating By missyv110 Updated 13 Feb 2007 , 3:28am by canadiancookie
I love making & decorating cupcakes (ok, ok, obsession
)
I'm sort of tired of Wilton and Bulk Barn (Canada!) sprinkles; I have stars & hearts & circles. Any good ideas of where to get (online or otherwise) unique and different toppers?
I really like to hand-place them, sort of like these I made a while back:
The butterflies and stars, etc, that you seek are actually called quins. There are dozens of different styles, so you may want to look them up by the type - football, dinosaur, to narrow your search for vendors.

Oh, my gosh, FancyFlours has exactly what I have been looking for - Dog Bone quins!
And have you taken a look at their blog? I have some heavy reading to do there!
Thanks for the hook-up on that site!

Tee hee, I'm chuckling to myself as 'quin' is very close to a rude word, maybe only in the UK? Will I EVER grow up?!!!
Hi everybody, just another question regarding edible confetti... does anybody know for how long will they stay fresh?? I want to buy several designs and found them on 12oz bottles for $4 ea. which is way cheaper than buying by the 2oz bottles, but 12oz is a LOT, so just wondering for how long can I keep them? Thanks so much!
As long as their kept dry, out of direct light, and at a reasonable temp. (below ?85 degrees), I don't see where there'd be any problem. They seem pretty inert.
JMHO.

Sorry for the delay (new to the forums....gotta remember to keep an eye on these posts.
)
If you do a search on quins you should find lots to chose from. There are a cpl cake decorating stores in there...Krazy 4 Cake Decorating, S&S Cake supply ect ect.
Hope that helps
