Cake Layers????

Ok...I need help....I'm new at this so please bare with me.....(I feel like such a dork.... icon_cry.gif)

When you bake a 2 or 3 layer cake, would you use seperate cake pans to bake each layer? or just fill up one cake pan an split it in half???

It all depends on the depth of the cake pan. I use an 8 x 3" pan for class and always split it in half. If I use a 2 inch deep pan, I will torte most of the time. I've even torted character cakes.

I would say that depends on your pan height....the two inch pans, you'd need to bake sperate layers....the 3' pans can be torted....I had a friend who torts the 2" pans, but I don't!
