I'm making a vintage lace cake for my own wedding cake (I scrapped my originial idea after I bought my dress) but every lace cake I see has ribbons and bows. No flowers. I don't want ribbons and bows but everytime I try and imagine flowers I feel like they don't belong.

My goal is for the lace to be the primary and everything else to be secondary (hope that makes sense). I also have 3 pearl monogram initials (3" height) that I can use but right now I don't feel like they belong. I also like the monochromatic look. Anybody have some great ideas for me?

This is the look I'm going for but without the bow:

when i think vintage i think roses. Either gumpaste or fresh i don't think you can go wrong.

That's sort of what I was thinking (maybe dusted in white pearl dust for some shimmer?) If I do roses, should I go with normal sized roses or the overly-large ones where I only have 1 or 2 on the top? And maybe one at the base? This is where I start to get really confused. thumbsdown.gif
