For those who have problems using the tappits or gumpaste letter cutters, I just added a tutorial on Youtube on how I use them.
Hope you enjoy!

Omg!! Edna, How do you make everything so easy ! Mine always stick to the tappits . Then I get mad and give up LOL!!! Thanks so much! I was on the Wilton site and someone had posted that you had this youtube out !!! I was like WHAT !!! I have been waiting and didnt get a notice from anywhere !! Its so great to see it work right. I just wonder though being gumpaste do people just pick off the lettering then before they eat the cake ? Do you tell them not to eat it ?? It has to be so hard?

Since they are small pieces they really dont make a difference. Gumpaste is edible, but it just doesnt have that much taste. I dont really worry about it.

I couldn't post it here cause CC is beem offline for me for days. So I been waiting.Im glad you liked it!

Wow...I enjoyed that tutorial. I needed that b/c I can never get my lettering perfect and I think I may prepare "Happy Birthday" lettering in advance and store it. This way I can just pull it out when I get orders. icon_biggrin.gif

If you add me as your friend in Youtube I usually send and email when I post a new one. But I think it only goes to the people in my friend list, not to the subscribers. The subscribers only know when they open Youtube and see whats been added to their subscriptions I never receive emails from my subscriptions

I have a horrible time getting my fondant out of my tappits (I have all of them), but I haven't tried them with gumpaste. I roll the fondant out really thin, let it sit for awhile and they still won't come out. Do you think it is the Crisco that keeps yours down or is it because it is gumpaste? I'm not giving up - I spent too much money on the five sets of tappits!!

Thanks for the tutorial. It is a huge help!

The gumpaste helps and its need to be thin. The crisco helps sticking to the board. But don't use a lot either cause is difficult to move them. Although eventually they dry. You can put some crisco on the tappits too. Remember just a little bit!

Thanks Edna for yet another great teaching video...you're so generous with your time and talent.
I have a question about the gumpaste...you said that you ?don't? add Tylose...I thought that gumpaste was just fondant with Tylose added, have I been wrong all this time icon_sad.gif.
Thanks for the help.

Gumpaste and fondant are 2 different things. You can add tylose to fondant to make it a bit stronger like gumpaste, yet the feel is a bit different still. But it does work. You can find different
recipes for gumpaste. One of them is made with tylose. For this letters is best to use gumpaste, but if you have no gumpaste at hand, make sure to add tylose to your fondant so it makes your fondant stronger and easier to work with.
