I am going to attempt a hat box/gift box... can I use buttercream intead of fondant on the bottom? Would a six inch round be to small? I plan on useing styrafoam on the top would that have to be fondant or is there a trick to cover it with BC Thanks Karen

Hey Karen,
I know you can ice the bottom of the cake with BC, depending on the design.
As for the lid, you can ice styrafoam just as you would cake.
Here is a cake I made with BC on the bottom and a GP lid
