My First Figure And A Big Thanks!

I wanted to say a big thank you to all of you CCers. I would never have conceived of something like this, much less attempted it before finding this site. You are all wonderful and I feel so blessed to have found you. Keep all that great information coming!!

This is my first attempt at figures/carving and the like. The car is carved from RKT and covered in fondant and the guy if fondant, too. It was made to top a cake and match the invitation for the 70th birthday of a friend of my in-laws. (The cake was my in-laws' present to him.)

I see a lot of room for improvement, as I'm sure you do, but the birthday boy was thrilled and so were my in-laws. Therefore, I have promised myself to be okay with it.

Hi NANIKINS, for your 1 st. attempt I think it looks wonderful.Those types of cars('57 Chevy) are not easy to do,even for those with many years of practice.As your skills improve with more practice you will get better ,I would love to get a cake as great looking as this one !! great work, Derrell

Heh heh, I knew it was a '57 Chevy, too. icon_wink.gif (Grew up with Boys.) But I'm more of a CHevy Girl (That's CH as in Cheetos!)

The fact that we were able to recognize the year,make and model says great things about the job you done.Makes us feel good when you deliver a cake and a 2 or 3 year old's eyes light up when they see it and knows what it is.Once again you did a wonderful job with a hard subject !! Derrell

GI, I've been a CHevy girl for years and didn't even know it!!

The recipient has called my in-laws and wants to preserve the darn thing. Is that even possible?
