I am new to cake decorating and wondered if fondant or buttercream decorations can be put on a cake frosted with mousse. I also wondered which would work better if they can be added.

Mousse is too wet as a frosting to use with fondant (the fondant will dissolve). Ditto for the b/c decorations.

But mousse makes a nice filling. Just be sure to use a b/c dam if you cover with fondant.

However, you can use fondant over b/c.

I'm a newbie but I use white chocolate mousse all the time for frosting. I've never tried fondant decorations, but buttercream flowers worked okay for me.
