What do I use to make fondant shiny? Piping Gel? I am making a Ravens helmet and need the black fondant to be shiny.

I just made a pumpkin cake and I brushed it with vodka and let dry. It was very shiny after it dried and the alcohol evaporated.

You can also steam it with a little hand steamer for clothes.

Pam eventually saturates into the fondant.

I mix vodka with piping gel; or for shiny colors I mix vodka with food coloring.

The vodka techinique works great! Especially if you can airbrush it on

I always rub it with a little Crisco!
