Its a great looking cake! Gives me the idea to do my own - we never have a b-day cake. On my 40th DH threw a suprise party and guess what, no cake - we had everything else, but NO CAKE? 
(maybe that means I'm really not 40?)
Happy Birthday!! Great Cake! i'm hitting the big 3-0 in december and I think I might make my own brithday cake too... It's not sad if we're having fun doing it, right!
Me and my nephew just had a discussion last week about birthday cakes since mine is coming up in Dec. (Big 30 as well.) He asked if I was going to make a cake for my birthday. And I was like probably not. I haven't in the past, plus I have worked on the night of my birthday the last few years and we don't do big parties for them in my family.
He decided he wants to make me a birthday cake. I mentioned this to my mom and she said that maybe she'd help him. That could be interesting.
