I subscribe to the theory... "less is more". I think your cake looks great just as it is!! Nice job!
Since this is a 40's looking "diva", I would love to see some roses and leaves on it. But that is just me....
Or you could go for more of an art deco look and add some lines. Lonnk at ThanhThanh's for some ideas. She has some AWESOME ones with wonderful detail on the edges. Simple yet gorgeous.
GOOD LUCK!!
Thank you all for helping! I ended up just adding a few pink roses with black "vines" and leaves. It worked well with the overall look without crowding it. I hate it when I start a cake with no final look in my head. Drives me nuts!
Again, I really love that top border! Do you have a close up of it from the top and the side that you'd be willing to share? Even a written description of it would work...
After I said it, I thought..."Well, hayell...she's just looking in the mirror practicing her poses!" I'm sorry I mentioned it.
That...
Is a lot of work!
I think it's a fantastic looking border and if you don't mind, I would like to use it ...on something...I don't know yet what...but something. Reminds me of something and I can't put my finger on what it is. Vintage dress closures or glove details?
Go for it! I just made it up as I went along. I was inspired by a number of images I looked up trying to get an idea for this cake. I looked up MySpace layouts, posters, postcards, etc. I was looking/feeling the elegant, mondern pearl kind of look. Does any of that even make sense??!!
Not quite the 40's stuffness but not as far as the 70's looseness. lol Anyway! Yes, please do use it!
