I have a 6 inch, 4 inch, and 2 inch tiered cake that I'm making to take to work on Tuesday for a baby shower. It's just a single layer for each size, but I'm torting it and putting a layer of preserves between the layers.

Should I use dowel rods and cardboard rounds for support or can I get away with not doing it?

Since they're really small and single layered, I wouldn't worry about support, but I would put a cake board under each layer so it can easily be taken apart to serve..
