I did a really neat trophy cake for my daughter's state championship track team's banquet last year, and I've already been approached with an idea for this years banquet. It was suggested I make a large sculpted winged shoe. The shoe part is no problem, but I'm not sure how I could make the wings, since they have to stick straight out with no support. Any ideas?? Thanks!

Could you cut them out of foam board and then cover them with fondant?

Make them out of gumpaste and insert skewers into the bottom where they'll be attached to the shoe. Allow them to dry well and then secure them when you finish the shoe. Does that make sense??
