Hello,
I am in agreement with JsuzieQ about that scripture Matt 18:19-20.
If God said it I believe it and that settles it. And also Isa 26:3 says. He wilt keep you in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee; because you trust in Him. God is good all the time, so let your heart not be troubled and think about all the things he has seen you and your family through during the years. He did not bring you this far to leave you. You and your family are in my prayers. 1Jn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us.
Wow... I am overwhelmed by the women of faith on here! This is so awesome!
Joc Mom,
Matthew 18:19-20 says:
19"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."
You obviously have lots of people praying so you can be assured that the Lord hears your cries. One thing that we have to remember is that God's plan is not always our plan, so if something goes wrong (in your eyes) remember that God is in control and He sees the BIG picture.
I will definitely pray for your mother as she goes under the knife tomorrow. May your family have comfort and strength, may the doctors have clearity of mind and may your mother have PEACE!
Blessings,
Suzie
Thanks again for the outpouring of support. Mom's surgery has been postponed until they can get her blood pressure under control.
This may be a true sign of God... maybe He is working on healing her before she has to go under the knife. He is in the healing business-- I KNOW! Please keep a positive outlook on this all and trust that HE is in control. I pray that her blood pressure be regulated at this moment. Please keep us informed and I will continue to pray.
Blessings,
Suzie
i hope her surgery went well today. you were in my thoughts and prayed for your mother. God be with you all.

I Pray that everything went well. May God Bless your Mom.My sister is going through surgery with Breast Cancer. 31 yrs old. Lots of Blessing.
JocMom,
Your mom and all of your family are in my prayers. I am a breast cancer survivor of 2 years so I know the ups and downs of waiting for treatments. My church family and friends were the great. God gave me peace at the moment of receiving the news that all was ok. I am sure that is why your mom has been calm about things. She has the peace in knowing that Our Loving Father is taking care of everything.
God bless you all.
I too believe in the amazing power of prayer. My prayers are with you and your family.

Wow...so cool to know that my "sisters in cakes" are also my "sisters in Christ!" What a wonderful support system we have here!
Jocmom, I'm a cancer survivor, too. I had a rare soft tissue sarcoma in my right hand when I was 8 years old which resulted in the amputation of my right arm. I've been in remission for 19 years! God has blessed my life so richly. While I probably wouldn't have chosen that path for myself, God's plan is far better than anything I could have created. No matter the outcome, know that the Lord has a plan for your mom and your family. Please keep us posted...y'all will be in my prayers!
My sister's ex-husband was diagnosed today with bladder cancer, just like your mom. We're wondering what is ahead for him. My sister doesn't talk to him often, but there are 2 grown children resulting from their marriage, so they choose to stay in contact because of the kids. Please keep us posted as to how she does. I'll be praying for her (and you!) as you travel downt this road that God has allowed you to be on. Remember that He causes all things to work together for good for those that love Him and who are called according to His purpose!! Rom. 8:28

Little Susie--
"Wow...so cool to know that my "sisters in cakes" are also my "sisters in Christ!" What a wonderful support system we have here!"
I so feel the same way! It is nice to know that we aren't just sharing ideas on cakes and other goodies, we are sharing our love for Christ and our passion to be more like Him.
I second that, it has been sooo awesome to me to know that we have been able to reach out to each other in our times of need and we can rely on the support we give each other. When I read all your notes of love to Jocman, I think that this is what and how Jesus intended for us to be.
Loving, Kind, in One Accord, and above all giving thanks to our Creator. I thank him everyday for you all and am forever greatful to be part of such a beautiful family.

Launa,
Adding your sister and her ex-husband to my prayer list.
Make sure that your ex-brother-in-law has a good doctor. Mom was diagnosed at the Mayo Clinic in Wisconsin, but was receiving her treatments locally here in Michigan for almost 2 years before she decided that she wanted to go to U of M for their opinion. Mom's tumors were between the walls of the bladder. The local doctors were giving her treatments that were burning out the interior lining of her bladder - so the tumors kept growing.
On a positive note - Mom looks great. You'd never know that she has cancer. Her blood pressure is down, and her doctor has rescheduled her surgery for Nov. 11th.
Thanks, Jocmom - It's good to hear that there's hope. I had never heard of bladder cancer before. We'll find out Monday if it's spread anywhere else. He's in a trauma center in Portland, OR, so I assume they have a good dr. We used to live in MN, so I'm very familiar with Mayo Clinic. My daugter spent a week there when she was born. Great doctors!! We'll keep ya'll in our prayers!!

UPDATE . . . after delays due to other health issues, Mom's surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11th, at 7:30 a.m. at U of M Hospital. We'll be spending Monday night in Ann Arbor, and I'm not coming home until Mom is up and around.
I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for the prayers, kind words, and support. You have no idea how important these are to me and my family.
Jan
Thanks, Shannon . . .
Your avitar made me laugh out loud. My sister has a similar picture of a bear in her cottage.

We're leaving for Ann Arbor in a couple hours. My sister, brothers, husband, and Aunt will be there tomorrow morning. Surgery is at 7:30 a.m., and will last for about 7 1/2 hours.
Thanks again for your words of encouragement and prayers. I'll give you an update when I return Wednesday night.

Mom's surgery went as well as could be expected. She was in surgery for over 9 hours. They removed her bladder, her right kidney, all of her reproductive organs, and a portion of the tube from her left kidney. Tumors were in all of these, and pathology is determining if all the tumors were cancerous. We weren't allowed to see her after surgery last night because they wanted her to rest.
I drove home last night so I could get some actual sleep. I didn't sleep well Sunday night, didn't sleep at all Monday night, and was afraid to nod off at the hospital yesterday. My brother, sister, and I are driving back down to Ann Arbor today to see Mom this morning.
Mom won't be home for at least another week. Her birthday is next Friday (the 21st) and I'm making a nurse's scrub cake like the ones in my gallery to thank the hospital staff.
Thanks again to everyone here for their prayers. I honestly believe that they made a difference. My family and I are ever so grateful for your support.
Jocmom, I'm glad to hear that your mom came through the surgery okay. I pray that the news you get from the doctors will be good news. Please keep up informed.
May our great and merciful Lord give your mother the strength needed for a speedy recovery and may you and your sibblings find peace and rest in these trying times.
God Bless
Thanks for updating us. Sounds like the surgery was a success. My brother-in-law is currently in the hospital and they are trying to reach a tumor that is in his kidney. They still don't know what stage his cancer in his bladder is, but we know it's not good. We're not sure what his treatment is going to be yet.

Keeping you and your family in my prayers. I'm hoping that your brother-in-law's cancer was caught in the early stages.

i am so sorry for what your mother is going through. even more sorry they had to remove so much of her. bet they didn't remove the best part of her tho, her spirit. i am glad she got through the surgery and i hope her recovery continues to do well. best wishes and God bless.

oh and one other thing jocmom, please take care of yourself as well. when my grandmother had cancer my mother wore herself ragged. in the end my grandmother passed, but my mom took very good care of her, but i would always have to tell her to rest and eat and you for sure need to do the same, cuz then whats your mom to do if you are not well. take care and be well.

Thanks, Angela.
I went back to work yesterday. I had a steady stream of phone calls from friends and relatives that wanted updates on Mom's health - which made the day fly by. Around 4:00, I got a call from her closest friend asking how we were doing. I started telling her about Mom, and she said, "No. How are YOU doing? Do YOU need anything? Are YOU getting any rest?" I almost starting crying. It was like having a second mother looking out for me.
A coworker offered to work my Saturday shift this week. I originally told her that I'd work it, but I think I'll take her up on her offer and sleep in tomorrow before I head back to Ann Arbor.
you absolutely should let someone take your shift. you need your rest and to take care of yourself. i know it can be hard when your worried and focused on your mother, but you really need try and i hope you do sleep in. be well. keep us updated tho.
We just got home from the hospital - we hit a nasty snow storm on the way home.
Mom is being weened off of her morphine pump, and is starting to feel the full impact of her surgery. She has started physical therapy, and has to walk the hall, sit in a chair, and climb a few steps every day. She has plenty to keep her busy. My sister-in-law teaches 5th grade, and her students each made a Get Well card for Mom. I've been bringing her mail from home (lots of cards there) and she's also receiving mail at the hospital.
She still isn't eating anything other than ice chips. She's receiving nutrition through her IV, but should be having a cup of coffee or tea tomorrow - followed by a cup of broth later in the day.
Mom's birthday is the 21st of November - and she won't be able to eat cake by then. I guess we'll just have a belated party when she's feeling better.
Okay - I have to feed the family then grab some sleep.
