pie for someone's birthday when everyone else got cake is a bit obvious!

a friend of mine was doing an americana theme for her wedding, since the wedding date was 4th of july weekend. she wanted a cake, but i couldn't drive all that way to do it, so she decided instead to go with apple pie and ice cream...my mom thought it was stupid, honestly, but i thought it was creative and fit the theme really well...what says americana better than apple pie? i like when people show their personality and march to their own drum beat...it gives me company!

I helped with a girlfriend's second wedding and they wanted pie too! But I am all kinds of pie, I had every type of pie from fruit to cream to everything in between - they were a huge success as was the tub of dozens of reddi whip cans - icon_wink.gif
Hey do we get to see a picture of the cobbler?

Here is the long awaited picture of the cobbler. It is a little fuzzy because it is from a camera phone. I got a good laugh out of this. I sure wouldn't have made this for the boss!! icon_lol.gif

Some people are just that way. One of my co worker ask me how I charge for cakes. Then she ask me if I could teach her how to do the cake. One of the girls said don't be so cheap. I said I doubt I will have time with me working full time and running my business pt. I also said it's not an easy as you think it is. And I do not see how that lady could possibly make a cake for $ 3.00 Where does she shop?

The apple for the americana theme is a really good idea!
Parents tend to have a vision of what thier childs wedding, career, future etc will be. Maybe the mother just wanted that fantasy wedding cake she had always invisioned for her daughter. That is a rough situation.

Boo! I can't see the pic!

But who has ever heard of (let alone requested) a "birthday cobbler"?

Lame. thumbsdown.gif

Ditto on not seeing the picture either. Did you give your dh a big hug for not donating a cake from you. He is your biggest supporter since he realized that you are worth more than a measly $3 for your talent.
People need to realize that it is not just making a cake, you are an artist and not everyone can make an artistic cake. Tell me what original art piece can be bought for $3.

In defense of the pies, I've seen a show on either food network, or one of the wedding shows, and there were a few brides who chose to have pies instead of cake, 3-4 different kinds, I think it was actually the show "unwrapped", and it was a pie company, it was set up really cute, and looked very nice, they cut a piece of one of the pies, and then the company sent them one for their 1st anniversary.

I wish I could make cakes and cupcakes for only 3.00!

HAHAHAHAHA...
My daughters best friends mother makes cakes like this. When my daughter was at their house for a birthday celebration for said friend this year, she (my daughter) proceeded to take the cake OUT of the pan, place it on a serving dish and frost it. The mother was clueless and had NO idea why my daughter was taking the cake OUT of the pan...

Cracks me up. icon_biggrin.gif

Since the last picture was so fuzzy, we took a picture of the phone itself. Maybe it will be a little easier to see. Thanks everyone for all your input!!
