How Long Will A Fondant Figure Keep?

A friend of mine wants a cake with fondant animals for a baby shower cake a month away. If I make them now will they last until then? I need to allow them to dry out but will they hold up for that long?

Yes. They'll be fine for a month.

As long as you keep it in a dry place. I would place them in a box so they don't collect dust. I did the grad figure several weeks in advance and the grad still has the figure. Just keep it dry and out of sunlight. I put my figure in a box with a silica pack (the kind you get in jackets etc. - the do not eat things) just to be safe.

I keep mine in air-tight containers like Rubbermaid or Tupperware. I never would have thought of silica packs. thumbs_up.gif

Ditto all of that and to reiterate what Judi said, keep out of sunlight (or regular light for that matter). The colors may fade if you do not take this important step.
