So I found out on wednesday that my mom wanted me to make a cake for her lil godson. His birthday is today and I finally finished his cake.
I had trouble with this cake, my green icing wasn't the right color(both of them), the cake was uneven even after leveling, some of my letters broke, my helicopter split down the middle...I think that's about it....no wait, I totally misspelled birthday the first time, lmao, I was tired and I put birtday...so sad! I had a long night and morning but I guess I'm proud of the finished product
I guess it's okay for my first time doing camo, but I know it could be better..it's really lumpy
Please let me know what you think and be honest.
I think it looks great!!! Your lettering style for "marines" is awesome. And your camo looks really good, even if it is a little lumpy, no one is perfect all the time, and trust me much better than my camo job
. I like the teeth on the helicopter! GREAT JOB!!
what's wrong with the color? Looks like camo to me!
Camo can be MANY different shades of different colors (greens, browns, greys, and/or black) and you did an awesome job on it.
Your lettering is perfect and the helicopter is great!
You shouldn't be so hard on yourself....
I wouldn't have even tried to do camo with buttercream, I would have cheated and used fondant..so kudos to you!!! ![]()
Thank you so much!
I just thought the greens were a lil too similar in color, and I'll definitely be doing this in fondant if I ever do it again...this kicked my butt ![]()
How funny .... my oldest daughter was over to day and we were browsing the gallery looking at cakes and we stopped on this one. We both LUV'D it!!
(and I tease my sister because she actually pronounces it "Birt-day!" She swears she doesn't .... but she does!! I think on her 50th BD, I'll write it that way on the cake! Bwah-ha-ha-ha!!
)
I think you did a great job. It looks good to me.
I love this cake! You did a great job!!!
I don't see the lumps
How did you do the lettering for the Marines' logo?
Well I see the lumps ![]()
With the Marines lettering I just searched for pictures online and printed it out and resized to the size I needed, then I taped the pic to a cakeboard, covered that with wax paper and traced the letters. I used RI and filled in with thinner RI
