I Made The Wrong Size Cake.....help!!!

I have a wedding cake order due for Friday. Square cake to feed 100. I went to take the cakes out of the freezer tonight. Low and behold, I made 2-14" cakes, 2-6" cakes, and 2-8" cakes. The 8" ones should have been 10" !!!!!!!!

Would a 14,8,6 combination look really bad? I still have time to make the 10's tomorrow, but I just wanted to get your opinions.

I think it's going to be too big of a jump from the 8 to the 14 to look good. I suppose you could make it work, but I would bake the 10's myself.

Oh, this happened on my last wedding cake I did. I was debating on a 12" or 10" for a long time. So, I made the 10" and once it was all decorated and getting the cake plates out, I found out I should have made the 12. I rebaked.

I agree, bake the tens. it would look out of proportion with the size differences.

You can, however, cut one of the 10" layers to piece together with the other to make one 14"
layer (if you can) so you only have to rebake one. Thats what I wouls do.

Maybe you subconsciously made the 10s because you know that 6-8-10 x 4" IS 100 servings. Boy you sure are givin' away the farm on this one! icon_smile.gif
