there's a thread on here about being in business for yourself. it's titled "making a profit". it doesn't look very good. people are barely breaking even.
Debi explains all the expenses that pertain to a business of your own, and i gotta tell ya, my fears are worse than before of starting my own little bakery.
all of you guys should read it. it's very insightful.

I believe with most people passionate enough to start a bakery know that it would take a large chunk of your time and energy. Getting to the point where you end up with money in your pocket will take a few years.

In almost any business you start, it takes around 2 years to make that business to be considered stable.

Edna is right, my family owns a catering business, which they purchased 3 years ago. When they started the business they were advised that it would take 2-3 years to become stable to have a steady income. They are just now getting to this point. They were also told that the biggest reason that businesses fail is because business owners try to take too much "income" from the business before they get to this point. You almost have to figure on not having a steady pay check for a few years.

This is right to..when they start to see the money coming in they forget the budget an expend too much..This business has good months and slow months. You have to save for the slow months to stay on top even if you have the money and the business is doing well. Is best to treat always as if it was on a lower budget..

Oh Tracy if I were closer I would SO help you during the holidays!!!! That is a long commute for me icon_wink.gif Anyone in Colorado Springs need some help?? I could use some extra holiday money!! And the experience! Plus Lord knows my whole family was born in the months of Aug-Dec!!! I'm not the greatest, but I LOVE what I do! And I sure could use some pointers from someone better than me!! Oh that's right that is why I LOVE CC! But I have looked high and low for a bakery or someone who is hiring here and have had no luck!
