I'm going to do a variation of this cake for a wedding next week, with SMBC icing and fresh flowers. If I do buttercream scrolls on it, will they be too heavy and pull the SMBC down, or can it stand up to that? What about royal scrolls done ahead of time?
Well, I just did a birthday cake where I piped crusting BC onto Smbc, AND IT HELD UP FINE. Piped a lot of lattice, flowers etc......However, I mix regular BC into my SMBC. Anywhere from a thir to a half. But it did hold up just fine........... Sorry I don't have a pic.

Mostly, I'm afraid of coloring SMBC! I need black scrolls, and last time I colored SMBC it flopped. I only have one container of black candy color and no more in town and no time to order, so I figured that Buttercream was my next best bet.
I hadn't thought about mixing SMBC with Buttercream - maybe I'll have to try that with Sugar Shack's recipe!
Also, if I make a 5 gallon bucket of SMBC, should I store it in the fridge or out? It's not really hot here this week so I shouldn't have to worry about that...
