Sugarshacks Buttercream With Regular Shortening???

Has anyone tried her recipe with regular shortening???? I don't have time to get sweetex and I am out of it!! Please help!

Yes you can make it that way but it is not nearly as good. It does work well enough though.

I have not myself, but I have heard others did and it turned out ok fine.
I dont have much luck with crisco anymore.

I made Sugarshack's buttercream for the first time this weekend. I didn't have any Sweetex so I used what I had -- Kroger brand. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful this buttercream spread on the cake and piped! I'm not EVER making any other kind. At first I thought maybe I had put too much liquid in it because it seemed so thin. I added a little ps and that didn't seem to help. So, I thought what the heck, I'll go ahead and spread it on and see what happens. Turns out, I guess that's the way it was supposed to be because it went on that cake like softened butter. Sugarshack, if you're reading this thread, thank you thank you for sharing that recipe.

Sometime I'm going to break down and order some Sweetex and try that. In the mean time, I'll just use the store brands.
