I guess the terminology is different here in the States! 
I think cashier's check is the similar to certified in Canada. I could be wrong though! 
Hmm... Seems as though this lady IS a valid wedding planner, but not a good one... I decided to do a web search and see if I could find her anywhere, and found this...I just HAD to tell my story (3rd post, caker) to warn others.

What a complete lowlife this girl is.....how does she sleep at night? She's never heard the word Integrity...nor would she know it's meaning.
I accept cash or certified bank checks only. I never take an order via e-mail for a wedding cake or any large cake over $100. We have to meet face to face and the deposit has to be in hand before I buy anything for the cake. I've been burned too many times with stop payments. Unfortunately the dishonest people ruin it for all the good people, but, we have to cover our butts.
