I have a wedding coming up in March and they want the diamond pattern and the line patterns on the cake. I have located where to purchase the impression mats to make the effects they are looking for, but I am wondering how hard they are to use. Can anyone help?

I used them for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They were really easy to use. I had no problems at all.

Although I'm new to this art, I didn't have any problems using the impression mats on fondant or crusted buttercream. Just be sure to not press too close to the edges of the mat - you don't want the impression of the edges to transfer to your cake.

I'm curious...Where do you get impression mats. I'd like to try using them.

I ordered mine from www.cakesbysam.com and www.sugarcraft.com. I only used the diamond pattern one but it was easy to use on crusted buttercream.

Thanks everyone! I found them. I'm looking forward to using them. I'm sure some practice will be in order.
